Getting Started
TAKAware Can connects to any TAK-compatible server. You will need either a Data Package or Certificate Enrollment credentials from your TAK server administrator to get started.
Connecting to a Server
- Open Settings → Server Information
- Tap Add Server or import a Data Package via the Files app
- Enter your server hostname and port (default: 8089)
- Complete Certificate Enrollment or import your Data Package
Apple Watch Setup
The TAKAware Can Watch app installs automatically when you install the iPhone app. Open the Watch app on your iPhone to configure vitals broadcasting and permissions.
Video Streaming
Video streaming requires your TAK server to have a MediaMTX instance running and port 1935 (RTMP) accessible. Enable video streaming per server in Settings → Server Information.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I see contacts on the map?
Check that your map filter (filter icon on the map) has the correct affiliations enabled. Also verify that your TAK server connection is active in Settings.
Where are my log files?
Log files are stored in the app's Documents folder under Logs/takcan.log. Access them via the Files app or Finder when your iPhone is connected via USB.
How do I import a CoT types file?
Drop a CoTtypes.xml file into the TAKAware Can folder in the Files app. The app will load it automatically on next launch.
